Director of Finance

Full Time/Exempt

POSITION SUMMARY

The Director of Finance is responsible for the financial operations of the Agency.

REPORTS TO

President and CEO

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Perform all accounting functions including accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll.
  2. Maintain all banking relationships, monitor cash reserves, investments and ensure monthly reconciliations are timely.
  3. Ongoing review of Fiscal Policy and Procedure manual, for necessary updates and ensure appropriate financial controls are in place.
  4. Oversee purchasing, procurements and contracting, including office leases, business insurance, health insurance, etc.
  5. Create and monitor all specific grant budgets, as well as the overall agency budget.
  6. Ensure compliance with funding and grant requirements including proper cost allocation among funding sources.
  7. Establish and develop relationships with management and external partners.
  8. Provide leadership, direction, and manage the finance team.
  9. Work with staff to manage grant submissions, awards, and reporting requirements.
  10. Perform financial planning including cash flow projections, analysis of operating and reserve fund balances and projections, and long-range financial planning.
  11. Prepare monthly and other reports/financial statements for President and CEO, Board of Directors, program Managers and funding agencies.
  12. Arrange and facilitate all audits and tax filings.
  13. Provide support and strategic recommendations to the CEO and management team.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting or related field required.
CPA or MBA in business, accounting, or related field preferred.

Five years’ experience in finance or accounting role with non-profit required.

Fund accounting experience preferred.

Language Ability: 

Ability to read and speak English required.

Other Skills: 

Proficiency in accounting and payroll software, Word and Excel required.

Supervisory Responsibilities: 

This position does not supervise others.

This job is performed primarily in an office setting; attendance at offsite meetings may be required.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is routinely required to use standard office equipment such as computers, phone, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines, and is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts; The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.
